What it is
ALS, which stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive, degenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The effects of this degeneration reaches out to muscles throughout the entire body and eventually results in death as the patient loses function in the lungs, heart, or brain. Currently the cause of ALS remains an enigma though recent scientific research has suggested a genetic link.
In association with the ALS Association's Greater New York Chapter, we've decided to host a non-profit golfing charity event at the local driving range, in which all the proceeds will go directly to the ALS Association in their mission to defeat this disease. This Year we've decided to rename the event the Annual Coleman-Petry Swing for ALS Fundraiser in honor of the two distinct individuals who inspired this event.
